The PDA-IV instrument determines the magnitudes, rates and polarities of voltage pulses created by partial discharges. Additional parameters such as NQNs and peak pulse magnitudes are also calculated.. An external computer is used to control data acquisition, display, and store PD test results quickly and conveniently.

The instrument can reliably identify loose, contaminated, overheated or poorly impregnated stator windings to aid in assessing the risk of stator winding failure. This portable instrument is easily connected to permanently installed Power 80 pF Epoxy Mica Capacitors (PDA EMCs) to run tests.
